Bulletproof mary calmes6/24/2023 When Jory witnesses a murder and inadvertently stumbles into a narcotics investigation, his life is turned upside down. They are the perfect matchĪ Matter of Time, Volume One (Books #1 & #2) Readers fall in love with Jory and Sam, cheer for them when they’re not together, and adore them when they are. It’s never boring and absolutely wonderful to watch. The relationship between Jory and Sam is the biggest part of all of these books – the ups and downs, twists and turns, break ups and make ups. There is never a dull moment and plenty humor and excitement. These stories are full of action and adventure,as well as romance and love. In her A Matter of Time series, Calmes takes readers on several exciting adventures with Jory, who is a trouble magnet, and Sam, who spends most of his time trying to protect Jory – running from the Columbian drug cartel, hunting a serial killer, and trying to escape drug smugglers and gun-runners. But it is those struggles that keep readers, like me, glued to the pages. The internal and external struggles between the men are both wonderful and painful to watch. In the beginning, their story is one of the right person at the wrong time, but eventually it turns into a story of lasting love, trust, and dedication. To Mary Calmes fans, those two names hold a world of meaning and years of love, heartache, and mishaps.

The reader knows this man is building his own trap, and it really propelled me through this book. You begin the book in Devil's POV, and get to see his motivations pretty clearly and quickly. The reader sees the hurt that is hurtling towards these characters and absolutely cannot look away. It is a little bit like looking at a crash about to happen. I thought that MacLean built the conflict in this book so well. I just found the word play and conversation in this book to be really really well done. I legitimately had trouble because I was underlining too much of the dialogue and it was slowing down my reading. The banter in this book is absolutely top notch. This book had everything I have loved about a MacLean book in the past, it just also takes an additional step. So it was really interesting to read this book just feel like MacLean had just kind of leveled up. I have been reading all of Sarah MacLean's books in publication order and have really liked them all, and really loved many of them. I had a tremendous time reading this book. The blue castle book6/23/2023 The reader’s sympathy readily extends to Valancy, who has been labelled an unmarriageable ‘old-maid’ by her family and is constantly needled over her plain looks and lack of social success. It is typical in the Stirling clan that Valancy’s birthday is a mere sideline, and that the day of her birth is traditionally given over to celebrating members of her extended family. The Blue Castle begins on Valancy Stirling’s 29th birthday, and Valancy’s only pleasure in the day is that the unseasonably cold, rainy weather means her family’s annual May picnic, celebrating the 30th engagement anniversary of her Aunt and Uncle Wellington, will be cancelled. The Blue Castle differs from much of Montgomery’s other work, as it is geared towards an adult audience, rather than YA readers, with its older heroine. The Blue Castle was originally published in 1926, when Montgomery was well-established as the author of Anne of Green Gables and was at the height of her writing powers (the Emily trilogy was published from 1923-1927). I hadn’t returned to this lesser-known work of Montgomery’s for years, and what a pleasure it was to reacquaint myself with its marvellous heroine, Valancy Stirling. Utopia, internationally titled Dreamland, is an Australian television comedy series by Working Dog Productions that premiered on the ABC on 13 August 2014. The book begins by reflecting on a “democratic revolution” spreading across the globe, not so much a political revolution - a change in the form of government - but something he regards as more fundamental: a change in social conditions. As a result of this careful study he published the first volume of Democracy in America in 1835, and the second five years later, in 1840. Tocqueville was sent by the French government to America in 1831 in order to inspect the prison systems, but he used his nine-month trip as an occasion to study all aspects of American life. The book’s principal focus is to identify the virtues and vices of democracy so that one might moderate its harmful tendencies. Democracy in America, Tocqueville’s most famous book, is a two-volume work spanning some 700 pages and covering nearly every aspect of American social and political life: the arrival of the Puritans American laws and political institutions the country’s habits, morals, and religious opinions even its arts and sciences. The best book on American democracy is written by a French nobleman, Alexis de Tocqueville. They are part of an ongoing series of talks about why the College includes certain texts in its curriculum. Goyette’s report to the Board of Governors at its February 20 2019, meeting. The following remarks are adapted from Dean John J. Friedman free to choose6/22/2023 We learn that voluntary cooperation brings prosperity, while price distortions caused by side effects of government projects can hamper prosperity. They also argue why voters allow this to happen, which is because people have changed their minds about what government should do over time.Ĭhapters 1 and 2 explain how free markets work, and how government programs tend to hinder the smooth functioning of the marketplace. The Friedmans provide historical evidence for their claim. The Friedmans believe that the increasing complexity and cost of our lives comes from government programs that are initially well intentioned but then grow out of control. This book explains those ideas in simple terms, which can help fix many of the issues that plague modern governance. Milton Friedman is a Nobel Prize-winning economist who has many innovative ideas about economics. It also explores the idea of paying more for goods and services while filling out forms, getting licenses, etc. The book Free to Choose is an attempt to answer questions about why government programs fail and how children can do better in school. 1-Page Summary of Free to Choose Overall Summary Salt and storm kendall kulper6/22/2023 And she's never been wrong before.ĭesperate to change her future, Avery finds a surprising ally in Tane-a tattooed harpoon boy with magic of his own, who moves her in ways she never expected.
